In Kind Direct is the UK charity distributing consumer goods donated by companies to UK charitable organisations working in the UK and overseas. Founded in 1996 by HRH The Prince of Wales, we offer a simple solution to connect companies and their products to thousands of charities, community groups, foodbanks and schools supporting our communities. Together we make a difference to 249,000 people each week.
So far, we have distributed over £287.1m worth of essential products, supporting over 11,476 charitable organisations and millions of people, as well as diverting 31,866 tonnes of usable goods from waste.
We empower charities to do more for less and put their local knowledge at the heart of our work. We make it easy for companies and brands to have a positive social impact with the products they make and sell.

Why product giving matters
Going hungry, or with unwashed clothes, is a growing reality for too many people. More and more families are having to make difficult choices between what most would consider to be the basics. When someone is unable to stay clean, safe and well it dramatically affects their self-esteem, wellbeing and place in society.
Living is about more than survival, and life’s essentials are about more than just getting by. We know product giving alone is not the solution to poverty, illness or disadvantage, but it enhances lives every day. It brings joy, inspires imagination and helps people know they aren’t alone:
- Toilet roll, toiletries and laundry supplies keep people clean and well
- Tampons and sanitary towels make dignified periods possible
- Toys, stationery, craft supplies and paper bring joy, and enable creativity and learning
- Tea bags and biscuits help people take a well-earned rest and share time together
- Nappies and wipes support happy, healthy babies and families
- Technology products keep people connected
- Office and cleaning supplies reduce charities’ overheads

Transforming lives at home and abroad
In Kind Direct International brings together charities in different countries, which specialise in product giving for social good.
Members work together to share expertise and innovation to maximise the benefits of product giving and also collaborate to redirect donations which are surplus in their country of origin.
Current members are In Kind Direct in the UK, In Kind Direct Singapore, Innatura in Germany and Dons Solidaires in France, and the network is continuing to expand in other countries.
