Back to Basics

Providing life's essentials for school, work and home

September 2020 marks not only the start of a new school year, but for most school children, it's their first time back in the classroom since UK lockdown started in March. Not only that, but offices, community centres and a whole range of other organisations are starting to open back up as the UK attempts to get back on it's feet. We've been working closely with our charity partners to gather feedback about the essentials that are most needed as organisations start to re-open. Our Back to Basics campaign aims to provide life's essentials for school, work and home and we're incredibly grateful to our donor partners who have been extremely generous is providing much needed new products, perfect for this time of year.

Initial key findings from our Impact Survey:

Over half of respondents reported people had struggled to access essential products locally.
Almost two-thirds said people were relying on their support more than before.
Over a third of partners have been supporting children with remote learning.
70% said products from In Kind Direct helped people to feel valued and cared for.
In the next 3-6 months, our network will be prioritising keeping people clean safe and well, reopening their facilities and addressing mental health issues arising from the crisis.

Listening to our charity partners

"As a tiny voluntary run organisation… you allow us to punch above our weight… some of the products are very well known brand names and that is always appreciated by women who normally have to source the cheapest of everything - it means that the goods you supply are often not only just a basic necessity but also a welcome treat at the same time."
- Black and Blue Charitable Company
"Poverty does not only restrict access to food. No one should have to suffer the indignity of being unclean. To be able to access hygiene products…and support our clients makes a massive difference!"
- Kate’s Kitchen
