Spreading Warmth this Winter together
10 December 2021
In November we launched a new range of winter focused products, based on what you said you needed most over these months, to run your services and support local people.
We want to say a huge thank you as we see you’ve been picking out items from our Warmth this Winter range and children’s toys over the past few weeks. Some of the most popular products include shampoo, hats and gloves, and gifts such as children’s small building blocks, make up and perfume. We’ve distributed these alongside the everyday core essentials like toilet roll, laundry cleaner and handwash to over 1500 organisations to ensure people feel clean, safe and well this winter.
Hear from two charities in our community who have used some of these products to support local people and helped to spread Warmth this Winter.
Grey Matters Active Ageing run a range of activities supporting 200 older people living in Helensburgh and Lomond, Scotland. They’ve been collecting items from In Kind Direct to make up Christmas care packs to help keep their members safe and warm including these gloves donated by Amazon. As Organiser, Alison explains:
“The majority of our membership have long term health conditions and keeping warm and safe is really important.”
Even the beautiful Christmas tree in the photo they shared also came from a donation through In Kind Direct from Amazon.
Louise at Sports Traider was up late preparing gifts for young carers ahead of Christmas parties this week. As a result, every young carer received an Appreciation Bag packed full of goodies including make up, perfume and hair care items for the parent they care for, as well as presents for themselves ranging from pens, cushions (shown in photo) and trainers.
Louise got in touch with us after one of the parties to tell us “One teenage girl was so happy that she could give her mum a Lancome set of mascaras - as she said mum never got a present from anyone last year."
The Innovate Trust supports 300 people with learning disabilities in the South Wales area and it’s been tough times for many who have needed to isolate at home for their own safety. Nick shared this feedback with us: "We’ve been able to bring a little joy and happiness to families with the toiletries, chocolates, recreational and sports equipment, books and festive stocking fillers. With the help of In Kind Direct we are very grateful that we've been able to gift more to people this Christmas”.
