#commUNITY Spotlight: Forward Facing

Forward Facing is a charity based in Sussex supporting families with children who are living with long-term or life-limiting conditions, or have suffered bereavement or hardship.

They usually run experience days and fun days for families and children but since the pandemic, like so many of our network partners, they have switched focus to putting together care packs for children in hospital and pamper packs for parents.

Forward Facing was one of the 350 network partners awarded a £200 credit through our #commUNITY support fund. In addition to essentials like hygiene and cleaning products, Candice, Forward Facing CEO explained that they have been able to use the £200 credit to fill their hampers with extra ‘goodies’ for the parents to make them feel special, and games and toys to help keep the children entertained while in hospital or in isolation.

“Being able to treat parents and children to some really special hampers has really made a difference. They’re stuck in the house like everyone else, but when you’ve got a sick child it is so hard. Their carers don’t turn up because they might have COVID, so all of sudden they’re up days and nights caring for their children with no help. To get a hamper of toys or a pamper hamper has just completely lifted their spirits.“
