April 24 2020
For this month’s #DonorFriday, we want to talk about our fantastic donor partner P&G. We couldn’t be more grateful for their longstanding ongoing support and their incredible donations helping us tackle the #COVID19 crisis, ensuring that everyone has access to life’s essentials.
The last couple of months have been uncertain and challenging for everyone, but especially for those who are most vulnerable. In response to the current outbreak, #IKDPioneer P&G is donating multiple truckloads of essential products to In Kind Direct, across their laundry, home, hair, oral and baby care ranges.
P&G and its brands are also donating one litre bottles of hand sanitiser, made in the Gillette Reading plant, for us to distribute to our network for free. We have begun distributing the first 2,000 bottles, with more to come. This incredible donation will enable charitable organisations across the UK to keep providing their essential support safely.
In Kind Direct is also the official charity partner of Always’ #EndPeriodPoverty campaign, launched on March 8. Their recent study found that, sadly, 31% of girls admitted to avoiding out-of-school activities or sports as a direct result of period poverty, with 21% said they lack confidence because they don’t take part in such groups or clubs. This fantastic campaign – whereby for every pack of Always purchased before April 30, one pad is donated to In Kind Direct – is dedicated to enable girls to keep active and do what they love, every day of the year. We are delighted to partner with Always to help relieve period poverty in the UK.
Tom Moody, Vice President and General Manager, P&G Northern Europe:
“During these unprecedented times, In Kind Direct is providing a critical lifeline for thousands of charities in all parts of the UK. Our partnership with them to provide access to everyday essential products – be that nappies, shampoo or cleaning products - has never been more important. Helping them, help the many, as we all respond and fight the spread of COVID-19, is one crucial way we’re helping communities stay safe at this time. We’re proud to be their partner in this.”
