In Kind Direct receives £50,000 funding to support charities in its network thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery
13th February 2017
In Kind Direct, a charity founded by HRH The Prince of Wales twenty years ago to distribute surplus product donated by manufacturers and retailers to UK charities, has received a £50,000 funding thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
The funding will mean a hundred small and medium sized voluntary and not-for-profit organisations across England, Wales and Scotland will receive needed products to deliver their work for vulnerable adults.
Organisations such as those providing support to adults who are homeless, vulnerably housed or who struggle to maintain their tenancies because of disabilities, learning difficulties or chaotic lives will each benefit from a credit to use on In Kind Direct’s online catalogue of products to access goods free of charge. Goods received will be used to maintain charity centres and facilities, to run activities or given for free to vulnerable people in need of support.
In Kind Direct offers a wide range of basic essentials and high quality brands including household cleaning products, personal care and hygiene items, baby care, clothing and footwear and IT and technology products to UK registered charities, not-for-profits and social enterprises. All products are donated by companies including P&G, Amazon, Colgate Palmolive, Johnson & Johnson, Disney and Pentland Brands.
Among the charities set to benefit are Tomorrow’s Women Wirral in Merseyside and Came Women and Girls Development Organisation in London:Benefiting from the funding: Barons Court (left) and Caxton House Community Centre (right)
“Thank you so much for awarding Tomorrow’s Women Wirral a credit to spend on projects or services which support vulnerable adults. This is massive news for our charity.”
Angela Murphy, Chief Executive Officer of Tomorrow’s Women Wirral, Merseyside.
“Thank you! I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for your award. We are committed to continue our work with local communities in partnership with local organisations to support vulnerable women and girls as well as older people and young people both here in the UK and abroad. This award is a booster to our work and will make a profound impact. We are truly very grateful to you.”
Margaret A. Nyuydzewira, Chair of Came Women and Girls Development Organisation, London.
